Many students at Randall Pepper Elementary School faced a glum holiday season as they did not expect a single toy under the tree because of family finances. Masked by extreme poverty, Fontana families of Randall Pepper students struggle each day to make ends meet and put food on the table. After learning of the hardship they face, the USS Foundation took the initiative to bring light to the students at Christmas. With Bike for Bender, a local bike organization, raising funds, 25 eager students at Randall Pepper Elementary received bicycles, with Santa on hand to distribute the shiny new bikes and Healthbridge Children's Hospital and Nexus Hope Foundation custom fitting and donating helmets. Overwhelming joy and excitement could be felt throughout the room as the students took their first ride on their new bikes. Families were extremely grateful that the kids now had a gift to cherish on Christmas.
